KEW 2004 Wild Rosé

Description:

Christened “Wild” Rosé, as a portion of this wine was fermented using indigenous yeasts already present on the Merlot grapes at harvest. The youngest fruit from the vineyard was allocated to this wine, the vines having been planted late 2002.

2004 was a fabulous season for red varieties in Gisborne, and the fruit for this wine was hand harvested at optimum ripeness and health.

Once the juice had been separated from the grape skins, it was then cool fermented to retain delicate flavours and aromas. Don't be mislead by the stunning pink hue, as this is a serious wine, with intense flavour and warmth.

Rosé is a wonderful summer wine, served chilled, with antipasto, fresh tuna, and lighter red meat dishes. Experiment with this wine to find your favourite match.

Tasting Notes:

Created as a pure expression of the wonderful red berry characters of ripe Merlot.

The vibrant colour of this wine gives an immediate indication of the vibrant flavours to come. Fresh dark cherries with hints of pear treat the tastebuds. Using cold temperatures to extract colour and character from Merlot retains these flavours without the structure of tannin.

The perfectly refreshing glass of pink to savour during summer.
