Description:

Citrus blossom aromas lead into a palate bursting with ripe pink grapefruit and tropical fruits. Blended from four components to maximize fruit expression and palate richness, this wine offers both freshness and complexity.

This wine is fantastic to enjoy by itself and would partner well with tasty summer salads and fresh seafood.

Viticulture:

Clone 15 Chardonnay planted as two metre wide rows, two metres between vines, trained as two cane VSP. Predominant soil type is clay loam with pumice sub layers. Cropping levels are vine specific, decided at pruning and again at fruit set. Canopy management aims at maximising air flow, sun exposure and fruit health.

Selectively hand picked to ensure premium fruit, this wine exhibits the full ripe characters that developed during the fantastic autumn of 2004.

Analyses at harvest, 24 March 2004:

Brix: 22.6
pH: 3.36
TA: 8.1 g/L

Winemaking:

This wine was created with the aim of retaining the maximum expression of the characters of ripe, fresh Chardonnay. After pressing, the juice was divided to four tanks, and fermented with two different yeasts. One quarter of the blend under went malolactic fermentation. All four components were then blended to produce the final wine which shows concentrated tropical and stonefruit characters.

Analyses at bottling:

pH: 3.45
TA: 6.2g/L
Alc: 13%
RS: 12 g/L
